Hi,
I am currently working as a SAP BI consultant in a reputed MNC . I am thinking of pursuing MBA in marketing from any reputed institute. Could you please throw some light on what profiles I would be offered post MBA? And also some guidance on what skills I can develop during my present profession so that it helps me later during and past my Mba.
Thanks In advance.

Hi Raj,
1. For developing a career in sales and marketing, we recommended joining your nearest “toastmasters international” club. They are excellent at developing presentation and public speaking skills
2. As far as employment, your best bet would be the industry (Infotech) that you are currently in. That will give you maximum leverage since post MBA salary is always a function of MBA institute quality + pre-MBA work exp./industry.
3. All said and done, marketing is a very dynamic profession and you CAN make a shift to other industries such as CPG (consumer packaged goods) BUT that would be ill-advised.
Hope this helps.

mbaadmissiongurus says
Hi Sonia,
Marketing is an evergreen profession provided you are good at it. With a computer science background and an MBA in marketing specialization, you could start as a “program manager – marketing” with tech. companies and gradually grow up to be a “product manager” in the profession. For more details on role of a product manager, please refer to the article on this page. Hope this helps. Thanks, MBA admission Gurus

Hi Anand,
Hotel and travel industry have a bit of an average future as far as marketing goes. Marketers are more valued in CPG industry that is more of a marketing (and not sales) driven business. However, your talent and passion is above all. So if you specialize as a travel and tourism marketer, there will be many opportunities coming your way. Also read the article on this page in detail so that you know the career paths and specialist roles. TY
